This accredited nursing conference is designed to provide registered nurses with current healthcare trends in patient care as well as innovative and informative updates specific to nursing care in the hospital setting. During this one-day in-person conference, attendees will benefit from in intimate learning environment in which Hoag faculty and guest speakers will present the latest in patient care and provide practical strategies and tools to improve nursing practice and patient outcomes.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:


  1. Describe the basic pathology causing dementia and how this effects behavior and cognition in the acute setting.
  2. Able to recognize acute post-surgical needs for patients who underwent a Whipple or liver resection.
  3. Differentiate research, evidence translation, and quality improvement activities.
  4. Discuss the role of the Crisis Response Team
  5. Discuss key components of a complete and accurate nursing note and identify ways in which nurses can document defensively.
  6. Explain rationale for choice of medication when treating alcohol withdrawal.
  7. Learn tangible mindfulness and meditation practices that can help them manage work related stress and anxiety to enhance patient centered care.
