Overview
A protocol for management of DBS surgery patients is developed according to evidence based best practices. The protocol is communicated to relevant parties and adopted. 

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Apply current standards of neurology care and evidence-based guidelines to optimize patient selection and management for Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery.
  2. Identify patients with Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, or dystonia who may benefit from DBS surgery.
  3. Discuss evolving DBS technology and its role in optimizing programming and improving patient quality of life.
  4. Utilize the expertise of the interdisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes.
  5. Review and evaluate program goals, vision, and challenges to improve DBS care and implementation.
