Overview

The 2025 Pickup Family Neurosciences Institute Neurosciences Symposium is a 2-day accredited CME/CE program for physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and allied health professionals. Expert-led lectures, interactive panels, and case-based discussions will provide the latests evidence-based updates in neurological care, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and practical application.

DAY 1: Focuses on empowering neuroscience nurses as leaders in communication, advocacy, and quality improvement. Sessions will address overcoming barriers in physician consultation, driving patient-centered change, and navigating healthcare hierarchies with confidence. Panels will cover functional seizure care, encephalopathy recognition, neuroimaging interpretation, and high-stake neuro exams _ equipping participants to lead and innovate within the care team.

DAY 2: Highlights translational neuroscience and emerging innovation, from mixed reality in neurosurgery to engineered neuroplasticitiy, tumor-treating fields, cellular immunotherapy, psychedelics, and advanced neuromodulation. Additional sessions will explore AI-driven diagnostics, biomarkers -based Alzheimer's detection, and new strategies for stroke, TBI, and concussion. Ethical, clinical, operational considerations will guide the responsible integration of these advancements into practice.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Explore how mixed reality and advanced visualization tools are transforming neurosurgical precision
  2. Examine the clinical and ethical implications of using psychedelics and neuromodulation to treat mood and addiction disorders
  3. Examine how cultural norms and systemic bias shape access to emerging psychiatric treatments and the ethical implications of neuromodulation across diverse patient populations
  4. Understand how AI and advanced imaging are reshaping diagnostic workflows in value-based care environments
  5. Review the current and emerging pharmacological and neuromodulation strategies for epilepsy treatment
  6. Assess the potential of brain-computer interfaces and seizure forecasting tools in predicting and preventing epileptic events
  7. Evaluate how personalized tech and wearables are reshaping clinical management in Parkinson’s disease
  8. Explore the impact of adaptive DBS and neuromodulation on expanding indications and improving outcomes
  9. Analyze the clinical utility and ethical concerns of AI-driven imaging and blood-based biomarkers in Alzheimer’s disease
  10. Analyze how early cognitive screening and AI-based tools may contribute to healthcare disparities and the unintended consequences of implicit bias in dementia care
  11. Debate the timing and implications of diagnosing cognitive decline before symptoms manifest
  12. Compare the roles of imaging, AI, and clinical judgment in acute stroke and TBI triage
  13. Critically examine the evolving science of concussion and CTE, and its implications for diagnosis and prevention
  14. Evaluate the role of bias and technological inequity in the diagnosis and treatment of acute brain injury and chronic traumatic encephalopathy
