Overview

This knowledge-based, one-day conference will focus on comprehensive and innovative clinical and psychosocial approaches for management of prediabetes and diabetes across the lifespan, emerging technologies in insulin delivery and glucose monitoring, gestational diabetes, and weight management in the treatment of diabetes.

This is a knowledge-based activity designed for diabetes educators, physicians, registered nurses, registered dietitians, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other health care providers interested in staying up to date on current practices of care for their patients with diabetes and other related conditions.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Evaluate dietary and pharmacologic strategies for weight and metabolic management, including intermittent fasting, low-carbohydrate, meal sequencing, plant-based diets, and appropriate patient selection and side-effect management for anti-obesity medications.
  2. Assess binge eating disorder (BED) in the context of diabetes and metabolic disease, including diagnostic criteria, clinical implications, and evidence-based treatment options.
  3. Analyze current and emerging diabetes technologies, including CGM use across care settings, pregnancy-specific approvals and trials, future applications in special populations, and automated insulin delivery systems with interoperability considerations.
  4. Examine the patient journey and psychosocial aspects of diabetes care, including common terminology, mental health barriers, and strategies healthcare professionals and patients can use to support psychosocial wellbeing.
  5. Apply evidence-based approaches to gestational diabetes, including prevalence, screening, maternal and fetal complications, integrated lifestyle and pharmacologic management, and strategies to reduce adverse outcomes.
