Join your clinical colleagues at Hoag’s 2023 Digestive Health Symposium on Saturday, October 14, in Huntington Beach. This daylong educational and networking event will focus on the latest medical and surgical advances in digestive health. Presentations and interactive panels will focus on the latest advancements in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD); steatotic liver disease, colorectal cancer and metastasis, gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery; medical and surgical approaches to weight loss; and interventional endoscopy including transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF) and endoscopic biliary interventions. Special focus will be given to the gut microbiome, the role that nutrition plays in whole-body health, integrative medicine, and the mind-body connection for GI health.

1. State the role of emerging technologies and treatments for medical and surgical management of digestive diseases.
2. Discuss dietary associations with diverticular disease, while removing implicit bias regarding food and lifestyle choices that can trigger chronic digestive conditions
3. Evaluate surgical and medical management options available in the treatment of digestive diseases.
4. Outline guidelines for the monitoring and management of acute and chronic digestive diseases.
5. Describe evidence-based medicine in the diagnosis and management of digestive disease.
6. Discuss the mind-body connection and its implications for GI health.
7. Highlight the importance of Integrative Medicine Education for GI providers.
8. Focus on the role of the gut microbiome with whole-body health and disease evolution.
9. Discuss the brain gut connection and its evolution.
10. Recognize small intestine bacterial overgrowth and how to make the diagnosis.
11. Compare the connection between dysbiosis and steatotic liver disease.
12. Describe the evaluation of pancreatic cysts and how to assess for risk of malignancy.
13. Recognize the value of an Integrative Medicine Education.
14. Discuss the psychological evaluation of patients seeking bariatric care.
15. State the role of special diets as treatment for IBD.
16. Discuss the role of endoscopic therapy for treatment of GERD.
17. Discuss cases of digestive disorders and identify appropriate dietary interventions.
18. Discuss the impact of sugar and nutrition on colorectal cancer treatment.
19. Discuss the implications the microbiome has on colorectal cancer metastasis.
20. Describe a multidisciplinary approach to the management of necrotizing pancreatitis.

Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian designated this Live Activity educational activity for the maximum of 6.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit^TM. Physicians Should claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
